Frustration with Blogger Issues

Is anyone else getting frustrated with the blogger format?  I've had nothing but trouble with it for several months and am giving some serious thought to moving to another format.  I hate doing this because last time I had to make a major change I lost half my followers (probably people who didn't keep up with me anyway).

Anyway first I lost all my pictures in my blog...this was going back a year and a half...I have them uploaded in Picasa (which is suppose to be blogger compatible) and the pictures were all still in Picasa but it took me several weeks to re-upload them to each individual post.  Now, and for the last several weeks, I cannot post comments using my google account.  I keep typing into blogger my google account id and password but it keeps flipping back to the log-in screen - funny it works with e-mail ok. I can post comments if I use my name and url but that gets to be a pain in the tush.

I'm also trying to connect Amazon Associates to my blog and have been unable to do it.  This one may be my problem but maybe not....who knows.

All this has gone on since the blogger outage a couple months ago - I'm so FRUSTRATED...thus I've not been blogging or replying to others posts as much as I would like. 

Has anyone else encountered these problems?  What blogging format do you suggest?

Recently I went to a website, at the advice of other gennabloggers, and had my writing analyzed.  The website tells you which writer you most resemble in writing style.  It was an interesting concept.  I just copied and pasted one of my blog postings and it came up J.K. Rowling.  Now mind you, I have not read anything by Ms. Rowling...not the Harry Potter series nor anything else she may have written.  I just may have to check out some of her books.

Fun Fotos From Fourth of July taken at friends of our daughter's house where we spent the 4th of July, eating, talking, eating, and talking, and then eating some more.  Great food, nice people, awesome time.

These are the pants Howard has worn every year for 40 years (see yesterdays blog for the full story on these). The shirt has changed a couple times - we bought this one last year.  My pants I bought after the 4th last year at a thrift store - $2.00. You can't see them but I have on red, white, and blue Birkenstock sandals.

Cookies Anyone?

Yesterday, Friday May 21, 2010, was the first day this year that Phoenix broke the 100F degree mark.  Typically Phoenix manages to hit the 100 mark earlier in the month of May... I am sort of hoping a late show will mean a cooler than normal summer - "dream on!" I'm told.  Normally I don't mind the heat until it gets over 110F but then it can be brutal - especially when we get the monsoons and it's pouring rain and hotter than hades (well maybe not 'hotter than' but close to it!)

Recently I found this recipe idea in a U.S. News and World Report (within an article titled '10 Ways to Reduce Your Summer Utility Bills' - Maura Judkis and Kimberly Palmer):

Try baking cookies on your car--yes, your car. Nicole Weston of Baking Bites developed a method of baking chocolate cookies with the heat that collects inside cars on steamy days. She suggests parking in the sun, using a thermometer to help monitor the temperature, and protecting your dashboard by putting a barrier between it and the baking sheet. (It should be at least 95 degrees outside and the baking process takes around two and a half hours.)

A great way to have homemade cookies in the dead heat of the summer!  I haven't tried it yet...but trust me I will soon.  I'm not even sure I will have to leave them in the car for 2.5 hours!

Thankful Thursday - Ceasar and Hannah

Ceasar and Hannah

This picture was taken several years ago...Ceasar is now about 15 years and has lost most of his hair and teeth.  He's not as lively as he used to be and we fear his time with us may be short.  Ceasar lays by hubby's feet or on in his lap all the time.  Hannah is a pistol, anyone comes to the door she's like a 'bat outta hell' charging to the other room to go into hiding.  The first day we got her she disappeared on us.  We searched high and low for hours but no Hannah, we thought we'd lost her and we hadn't even had her an hour.  We finally found her under the car in the garage...how she got there we're not sure.  Now we don't let her out of sight unless we know she's in the house with us.  She loves to have her tummy rubbed and then spends most of her time hiding in the closet or under the bed.

We got Ceasar at a Petsmart in 1997....Petsmart works with the animal shelter to place pets that have been put up for adoption.  I can't believe anyone would have taken such a beautiful dog to the pound...but it was our gain.  Hannah was given to us by a breeder friend after she had her first liter.  We got her in 2004. I used to wonder how much she missed those babies she had carried and nursed.  As a mother I just cannot imagine.

Our gain on these two cuties - we are so thankful that they came into our lives and bless us in a big way.

Sunrise-Sunset

Remember the song 'Sunrise - Sunset' from the movie "Fiddler on the Roof"?   Born out of the early 70's (1971), before that it opened on Broadway in 1964, it was nominated for 10 Tony Awards and several Acadamy Awards.


The story centers on Tevye, the father of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his family and religious traditions while outside influences encroach upon their lives. He must cope with both the strong-willed actions of his three older daughters—each daughter's choice of husband moves progressively further away from established customs—and with the edict of the Tsar that evicts the Jews from their village. (from Wikipedia).

We actually saw an intersection sign similar to the one above in our travels during the last 44 years.  I do not remember where or when - and I'm hoping maybe someone out there can help me place it.  I remember there was a church near this intersection and I remember thinking how appropriate that was because of the theme of the movie.

Tuesday Talkings

Busy time this past weekend!  My sister Martha and hubby Gerry were here from California visiting and we had an AWESOME time.  Eating out at Red Robin on Friday night, eating out Saturday noon at Mimi's Cafe with our 1st cousin, once removed.  Bernie is not only a great cousin to meet and eat with and she's a really nice person too!  Plus she's BEAUTIFUL as you can tell by the picture.  She is the 3rd child of Leo and Hilary....Hilary being my 1st cousin and the daughter of Bill and Dorothy Haines.

After catching up on each other we said our goodbyes/see-you-laters to Bernie; Howard, Gerry, Martha and I were all off to Kim and John's housewarming party.  And then back to our house for some going through and helping to identify old pictures party, and eating again....this time pizza!  Kim and John showed up later and we all sat and talked about life in general, and how things were going....fun stuff.

Sunday was more eating, this time at Jason's Deli....personally I'm STUFFED, tired, and overall pooped-out!.  I got a lot of pictures ID'd with Martha's help so it was a very productive  but tiring weekend in which I ate too much food, and had way more fun than I've had in a LONG time!
