Susan Hostetler was my great-great grandparents, Yost and Martha (Plank) Schrock's first son's, Christian Schrock's, wife. Also in my database there is a Dorene Hostetler who married a Cripe. Two of Yost and Martha Schrock's daughters married Cripe's. Whether a link is there or not is yet to be determined.
The book is fairly small print and is almost 1,200 pages, it was printed in 1912 and some of the genealogy lines go back to the 1600s. I am hoping to look through this book extensively this summer, when I'm off work, and find a link to my ancestors.Know anything about anyone mentioned in this post? Please contact me using the e-mail address to the right under my picture.

My husband has Hochstetlers in his paternal line, three of which were named Jacob. Unfortunately, it appears I entered this into my database in my early days of researching before I realized the value of noting my sources. I can't remember now where I found the information.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, what I have is that my husband's 8th great grandmother was Barbara Hochstetler, daughter of Jacob Hochstetler and Anna Lorentz. Barbara had four brothers named John, Jacob, Joseph and Christian. Her father was the son of Jacob Hochstetler and Unknown.
Thanks Dee, I will keep all this in mind when I'm studying this book...if anything looks like a possibility I'll let you know.
ReplyDeleteMy 6th great grandfather is Jacob M. Hochstetler... im wondering how much does a book like that cost.. i want to purchase the same one.
ReplyDeleteTabatha...I purchased this book from e-bay. I paid only $10 + shipping, total less than $15. I'm not sure where it can be purchased. It was published in 1912. I checked the book and do not see the 'M' within Jacob's name. Do you have more specifics as to date of birth, death date, wife's name, etc - I can check through the book...it's almost 1200 pages and it's very small print, so it may take some time.
ReplyDeleteI have Hochstetler's-Hostetler's in my ancestry which is why I purchased the book. But so far I've had no time to really check though it. I'm off work during the summer and hope to have time to do some searching though it.
If I find I have no connections in this book I will gladly give it to you for postage/handling costs. But again this may take some time before I'm ready to give it up.
