Today I'm most thankful for my brothers and sisters. I am the 2nd child of 5 siblings
My brother James Joseph (back left) was 15 months older than me. Jim passed away on December 27, 1993 at the age of 51. I thank God everyday for the time I had with him before he died.
That's me, Mary Dana, on the left in behind Jim. I was born in 1943.
Third in line is Martha Lucile - cutie, isn't she?
Number 4 is Hays Christopher, standing behind Martha He was named after my dad but goes by the name Chris.
Last but not least was Susan Dorothy (the one with the smirk on her face).
Of all my brothers and sisters I'd say I'm closest to Martha...she's only 18-19 months younger than me and we got along fairly well as children. Jim was the eternal big brother - I was very close to him prior to his death and was blessed to live within 120 miles from him so was able to see him quite often. Chris and Susie were those pesky little brother and sister that I probably ignored more often than not - I hear from them somewhat but haven't seen them in sometime.
Aren't we a cute looking group? I figure I must be about 9 or 10 in this picture - so it would have been taken about 1953.

There is just something special about siblings. You and your sibs look and sound like a close group. congratulations on that -- When my 4 siblings and I get together (just the 5 of us) it is like we are kids again -- in the respect that it is "us" - a sense of oneness. I look forward to those times.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great group, and what a great gift to be able to remain close to your siblings as you grow up.
ReplyDeleteI agree - siblings are a great blessing!
ReplyDeleteOMGosh mom. You looked just like me! LOL
ReplyDeleteThanks Joan and Greta - I just wish we were closer in proximity (did I spell that correctly?)...they are in CA, and I'm in AZ...I guess it's not too far :)
ReplyDeleteKim - you were much cuter than I was...but yes we do look kind of alike!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karri - they are...don't know what I'd do without them!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture. But I think it must be 1955. Susie looks more like 5 years old than 3. I have never seen that pic before.
